Use the wheel rims recommended by the manufacturer

Use the wheel rims recommended by the manufacturer

As you know, agricultural tires are made of two types – tube type and tubeless. Accordingly, the wheel on which is mounted the tire, also made for a tube type tire and a tubeless. According to the production technology, according to the recommended loads and intensity of use, such wheels differ from each other, and their use for other purposes can lead to undesirable consequences. How? In this article I want to answer this question in detail.

So. Tube Type Tires or TT provides for the use of the camera and the rim tape. Rim for these tires need to be used exclusively for TT tires. This is due to the shape of the rim itself. As a rule, wheel rims for TT tires are made of two, mirror-like, halves, which are fixed with each other by bolts (collapsible) or welded by electric gas welding (not collapsible). The transverse contour of the wheels for the TT tires is a "bath", providing a proportional, uniform fit of the tube to the rim (Fig.1).

Tubeless tires or TL do not include the use of tube and rim tape. The transverse contour of the wheels for tubeless tires does not require special forms (Fig.2).

What negative consequences can arise when installing a TT tire on a wheel for tubeless?

Since the tube is adjacent to the disk disproportionately, over time, the tube is rubbed against the surface of the rim at the point of contact of the greatest load. The result: in the best case – the failure of the tube, the additional cost of its repair and tire work, stop work for equipment. In the worst case – all of the above costs can be added to the cost of repairing the wheel rim and wheel hub (or their complete replacement).

What negative consequences can arise when installing a tubeless tire on a wheel rim for the TT?

Since the wheels for the TT tires are made of two halves, there is a high probability that during the operation of the equipment, the welding seam of the wheel rim formed microcracks, through which air will begin to leave, and the tire pressure will constantly decrease. It is almost impossible to fix this problem. The result: in the best case – the failure of the tire (if time did not notice the lack of pressure), additional costs for its repair and tire work, stop work for equipment. In the worst case – all of the above costs can be added to the cost of repairing the wheel rim and wheel hub (or their complete replacement).

And in the first and in the second case still have to spend money on the purchase of the necessary wheel rims for the type of tires that You use!

Regards.
